Coach Evaluations

Hello Everyone,

The Coach Evaluation Form is online now. Deadline is March 31st. It is important that everyone understands about these evaluations so we can get as many surveys completed as possible.

1) All completed surveys are routed to the Assistant Commissioner.  The Assistant Commissioner is the ONLY person on the Wild Executive that has access to any surveys submitted.  Coaches, Coordinators and Board Members do not have access to surveys.

2) The Assistant Commissioner will electronicaly process the forms and will provide feedback based on how the coach fared during the year. 

3) The Assistant Commissioner will review the written portion of the submissions and will flag both positive and negative feedback on the coaches and offer a summary to the coaches when necessary. The feedback will be in summary form, your individual comments & evaluations will not be shared with the coaches. You will not be identified.

4) In a case where there is a serious concern regarding a coach's evaluation, the Assistant Commissioner will include the Commissioner and the Division Coordinator to discuss actions going forward. Those actions may include a more detailed discussion of areas of improvement with a coach, an in person meeting with a coach to discuss corrective actions, or in some cases removal from coaching in the zone. If there is a potential conflict of interest when dealing with a concern, that person would be replaced in the discussion by a different board member.  

5) We ask that you sign your evaluations so that if there are any issues that need additional follow-up, the Assistant Commissioner is able to gather information that may be required.  

The surveys are simple, straight forward and easy to complete. If you can involve your child in the process, especially in the older divisions, it is appreciated.

As a zone, we are very lucky to have an extremely high number of qualified and motivated volunteer coaches who truly have the best interest of our athletes at heart. The evaluations are one of the few tools we have to ensure that the coaches that do rise to the top are acknowledged for their work and encouraged to continue coaching in the future. It is also a way to identify coaches that may need some help to get to a level they need to be at to coach in our zone. We have in the past asked coaches to step back and take some time to devleop their coaching skills and they have returned to coach both in our zone and at higher levels of hockey. Your feedack is the key to the process.
