  Share$250,000 Matching Donation for SMHA on new U of S Arena2016-10-18
 SMHA is extremely grateful and and excited to announce that Mr. Merlis Belsher will match all donations made by SMHA supporters towards the new U of S twin arena up to $250,000! Read on for how you and your team can help make this new arena a reality sooner than later...What an exciting time for Saskatoon Minor Hockey, the University of Saskatchewan and Saskatoon in general!
For those that missed it, on October 13, 2016 the University of Saskatchewan announced the start of the public campaign to raise the additional funding for the construction of a new Twin Pad Arena complex on the campus of the University of Saskatchewan.
THIS ANNOUNCEMENT WAS NOT TO ANNOUNCE THE START OF CONSTRUCTION BUT THE START OF THE PUBLIC CAMPAIGN TO FUNDRAISE.
The facility will have a 2000 seat varsity arena, a second rink as well as a double gymnasium.
SMHA has partnered with the University of Saskatchewan on this facilty by committing to 1200-1500 hours of ice rental for 15 years.
Approximately $34 million of the $41 million project has been raised to date
SMHA teams and their supporters are now being called upon to help make this project a reality and get this new ice into use sooner than later.
Mr. Merlis Belsher has stepped up to help SMHA families to get there much more quickly! Mr. Belsher will match all minor hockey donations up to $250,000.00!
That is correct - every dollar donated will be matched. A $500 donation will become $1000 thanks to Mr. Belsher.

Merlis Belsher is a former long-time SMHA coach, having coached all ages right through to Midget and Junior B in the Kinights zone in the 1970's.

SMHA challenges all 258 SMHA teams to set a goal of raising or donation $1,000.00 this season to help this new twin pad arena become a reality sooner than later.
If you or a supporter of minor hockey has the capacity, we encourage you to consider matching your team's total donation. All of those dollars will then be matched by Mr. Belsher - powerful stuff! Thank you if you do have the capacity to assist.

Donations will be tracked by zone, age divisions and by team name. Rise to the challenge!
