Registering for GSHL.....Important - Please read

2017-08-22

GSHL (Greater Saskatoon Hockey League) This email is for those players wanting to play city wide (AA) which starts at the PeeWee level.

While reviewing Wild zone registrations, we have noticed there are many players who have not registered in the Wild zone due to registering for the Greater Saskatoon Hockey League (GSHL).

As per the email sent out in April/May, all players wanting to tryout for GSHL (city wide AA), which starts at the PeeWee level, need to register in their home zone as well as with GSHL; whether new to a division or a returning player to the GSHL.

If you are not registered in your home zone and then released from GSHL, you would have to be registered late by SMHA and would be placed in whichever zone could use a player. By the time the player is placed back in a zone, the player will have missed tryouts for that zone and therefore, placed where needed.

Secondly, home zone registration is required for an accurate count of hockey players to estimate numbers going forward. This helps in predicting jerseys, equipment needs, team sizes as well as for making arguments for/against reasoning when it arises.

If you have registered for GSHL and did not register in the Wild zone (whether a returning GSHL player or not),  please contact SMHA (Saskatoon Minor Hockey Association) to register late and send the information on to us.

Yours in hockey,
Jason Flaman
Commisioner, zone X wild
