Al Anderson's Source for Sports SHA Cross Ice Jamboree

2017-09-11

Initiation Players

The Saskatchewan Hockey Association (SHA) and the Saskatoon Minor Hockey Association (SMHA) would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the Al Anderson’s Source for Sports SHA Cross Ice Jamboree. As you may be aware, Hockey Canada developed the Initiation Program to make children’s first contact with hockey a safe and positive experience.

The premise of the Jamboree is two-fold: To provide a positive, enjoyable experience for all Initiation players, as well as an educational opportunity for parents. In meeting the first objective, a detailed on- ice and off-ice curriculum has been developed for players. At the same time, parents participate in a practical workshop based on three topics, including; Role of the Coach, Role of the Hockey Parent, and an information session about the Initiation Program. The on-ice session for the players focuses on the development of fundamental skills through the fun-based approach to learning consistent with Initiation Program objectives.

The underlying theme is that parents and their kids spend a day together learning about hockey and having fun doing it. The parents’ classroom session is not a boring opportunity for the SHA to tell  parents what to do and not to do, but rather an opportunity for parents to learn about what their children are being taught, what is expected of them, and finally, what they can expect from the SHA and from the SMHA.

Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Cosmo Civic Centre

What to Bring: Full hockey equipment including stick and runners for the off-ice activities

Please fill in the registration form: You can email it to your zone IP Coordinator, mail, or scan and email it to SMHA or drop it at the SMHA office where there is a 24-hour mail slot in the front door.

There is no charge to enter the Al Anderson Source for Sports SHA Cross Ice Jamboree.
