FROM:                SHA Board of Directors

RE:                       Message from the BOD in response to COVID-19

On behalf of the Saskatchewan Hockey Association’s (SHA) Board of Directors, we want to thank you for your cooperation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the cancellation of all sanctioned events in our province. We acknowledge how frustrating this cancellation has been for many of our membership who were still involved with hockey activities including playoffs and provincials. These are difficult decisions in difficult times. Priority is always the health and welfare of our participants, players, team officials, volunteers, games officials, fans, and the environment that we live and play in. We strongly advise that non-sanctioned hockey applies the same standards and ends their group activities as well.

For clarification, sanctioned events include on and off ice activities for registered teams.  For those Minor Hockey Associations and Leagues who are soon to host meetings including annual meetings, we ask that you look at adjusting the format. The SHA Board has cancelled our April meeting and will be holding a series of conference calls to fulfill our requirements. As you are aware we have also cancelled the SHA Spring Zone meetings.

SHA’s General Manager, Kelly McClintock, is working on how the communication and feedback from the Zone meetings can be gathered and shared through remote access and there will be updates sent directly to the membership about this.

We ask that you cancel any upcoming face to face meetings (MHA and League) and either postpone or host in a remote format. We continue to receive updates from the Saskatchewan Government and Saskatchewan Health Authority and we all need to follow their guidance.

Working together we will get through this and we look forward to seeing everyone back in the rinks next season.

Take care,

Mary Anne Veroba
Chairperson, Saskatchewan Hockey Association
