Saskatoon Minor Hockey and the University of Saskatchewan Men’s Hockey program are pleased to announce an exciting new opportunity for SMHA players in the U9, U11 and U13 age groups.
The 1st Annual SMHA – U of S Huskies Pre-Season Hockey Camp will take place August 27 – 29, 2021.
U9, U11 and U13 players registered with their home zone for the 2021-22 season are eligible to register for this camp.
The Saskatoon Comets female program and the U of S Huskies Women's Hockey program has an established pre-season hockey camp that will also be conducted August 27-29.
Camp registrations will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. Each SMHA zone has been allocated 25 spots in each of the three camp age groups (U9, U11 & U13) so we encourage you to register with your zone for the camp ASAP. Please see below for more information:
2021 U of S Huskies – SMHA Pre-Season Camp
Dates: August 27 – 29, 2021
Locations:
Merlis Belsher Place Community Rink, Rod Hamm Memorial Arena & Harold Latrace Arena & Canlan AgriPlace Rink 2
Age groups – U9, U11 & U13.
**Players must be registered with their home zone for the 2021-22 season to be eligible for this camp.
# of Players per Zone:
U9 -25 players; U11 – 23 skaters & 2 goaltenders; U13 – 23 skaters & 2 goaltenders
Ice times:
60 minutes each
# of ice times per participant:
3 ice times per registrant; one Friday session (afternoon or evening), one Saturday session and one Sunday session
Registration fee:
$120.00 payable to your home zone, includes a ticket voucher for each player to attend a 2021-22 Huskies Men’s hockey game at Merlis Belsher Place
Registration Deadline:
August 6, 2021 or when all positions have been accounted for
On-Ice Coaching:
- One Huskies coach on the ice for all sessions along with 3- 4 Huskies players per session. Goaltending coach on the ice for U11 and U13 sessions also.
- Huskies Coaches – Brandin Cote, Associate Coach (Brandin is coming off three years as an Assistant Coach with the WHL Swift Current Broncos); Derek Hulak, Assistant Coach (former Saskatoon Flyer, Saskatoon Contact, Saskatoon Blade and U of S Huskie) who just retired from professional hockey and Michael Babcock Jr. who is beginning his coaching career at the U of S after a four-year NCAA career followed by a year of pro in Europe.
- Head Coach, Mike Babcock, has committed to get on the ice with each of the camp's 18 groups equally.
How to register for the camp:
- U9, U11 & U13 Players will register for the camp with their home zone for one of the 25 spots in each age group. Zones will make their applicable players aware of how to register.
- Camp registration opens June 24, 2021
