CITY OF SASKATOON MODIFIES ITS PROOF OF VACCINATION POLICY

2021-12-01

UPDATE DECEMBER 1st: CITY OF SASKATOON MODIFIES ITS PROOF OF VACCINATION POLICY FOR CITY ARENAS Please read on for a summary of what is required at Saskatoon Arenas...

Effective Monday December 6, 2021 an individual must be fully vaccinated 14 days prior to date of entry. Example: If you are vaccinated on December 1, then you will be eligible for entry into the City arenas on December 15, 2021”.

All other policies remain in place, see below:

Proof of Full Vaccination

According to the Province, the only acceptable forms of proof of full vaccination are:

  • Wallet cards received at time of immunization
  • A printed copy of your MySaskHealthRecord vaccine certificate (with or without a QR code) or a ‘screenshot’ of your vaccine certificate (with or without a QR code) saved to your device
  • A COVID-19 vaccine printout from Saskatchewan Health Authority Public Health
  • A QR code/MySaskHealthRecord vaccine certificate uploaded to SK Vax Wallet app available free from Google Play or Apple App stores.  Vaccination dates must be visible.
  • Official proof of vaccine documents from other governments
  • Fully vaccinated is 14 days following the final vaccine dose

Vaccine Exemptions

Proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test does not apply to children under 12 (at this time).

The Province noted that some individuals are obtaining affidavits to show they are exempt from vaccination. Vaccinations are not mandatory in Saskatchewan and individuals may refuse to be vaccinated, therefore legal affidavits are not required and will not provide an exemption.  If a proof of vaccination is not provided, proof of a negative COVID-19 test must be presented to access a designated business.

Proof of Negative Test

Individuals who do not have proof of vaccination have the option of providing proof of a negative COVID-19 rapid antigen or polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test result from within the previous 72 hours. This can be in the form of a paper or digital copy. This test is to be done at the expense of the individual; a list of locations and labs offering testing services is available on the Government of Saskatchewan website (Saskatchewan.ca/covid19).

Self-administered take-home rapid antigen tests (e.g. pictures of the negative test stick itself or someone bringing in a negative test stick) will not be accepted as valid proof of negative COVID-19 test results.

ID Required

In addition to the proof of vaccination, photo ID will be required from anyone 18 and older. Youth aged 12-17 will also need to show ID unless accompanied by an adult with proof of vaccination and ID. Youth aged 12 to 17, visiting a business without an adult, who do not have photo ID will be allowed to present other forms of government issued ID such as birth certificate or health services card.

The 12-17 age group will have limited ID – so accepting Student Cards, photocopies of health cards, etc is reasonable for this age group. Including photos (e.g on phone) of these forms of ID.

Applicable City of Saskatoon Facilities

INDOOR ARENAS

Effective October 15, proof of full covid-19 vaccination or negative test within 72 hours along with proof of identification is mandatory for ages 12 and over in order to access City indoor rinks.
