Important COVID Recommendations

2022-01-09

SMHA's COVID Representatives Committee met this past week to address the new reality of the Omicron variant and make recommendations for all SMHA teams and for teams that play in SMHA leagues from our Interlock MHA's...

IMPORTANT COVID RECOMMENDATIONS - JANUARY 8, 2022
Recommendations discussed and to be implemented for the remainder of January at least.  These recommendations apply to all SMHA teams and to Interlock MHA teams that play in SMHA leagues from Clavet, Martensville, Delisle and Warman.

1. Sending out a reminder to Team Covid reps as a refresher from the October meeting:
-Report positive cases to their Zone Covid rep using the Questions Form     (IMPORTANT);
-Completing the Vaccination status of all players and coaches on TeamLinkt;
-Encourage teams to make sure TeamLinkt waivers are completed for all ice times and team events;

2. KEY RECOMMENDATION: Highly encourage all families to rapid test within 2 – 3 hours of all ice times.

3. Players that have any COVID symptoms (headache, sore throat, runny nose) should not attend team activities until symptom-free for 48 hours or more

4. The use of affiliate players will be reviewed on a team-by-team basis with regards to Covid situations on a team.

5. Encourage players, coaches and spectators to use medical grade masks over cloth masks.

6. Emphasize to all teams that coaches and players must properly wear their masks AT ALL TIMES except when on the ice unless a player or coach chooses to wear their mask while on the ice.

7. Encourage distancing with spectators in the stands and around the glass to limit exposure and transmissions.

8. Encourage U7 – U11 families to bring players to ice times fully dressed, if possible, to limit time in dressing rooms

9. Teams playing cross-ice or half- ice games (U7 and U9) should utilize the other side of the boards/bumpers (1 team) and the bench (1 team) to limit exposures and transmission – teams could switch up at the halfway point if they wish. Do not crowd two teams onto one bench.

10. Teams should bring with them Lysol spray or wipes to all ice times to ensure that the touch areas are wiped down prior to players or coaches touching them- benches, doors, etc.

Other:
  • STANDINGS - Please make your U13-U18 teams aware that Points % may need to be used instead of Points for provincial playdowns / City Playoff standings if we are in a situation where all games can’t be made up.
  • Reminder: Merlis Belsher Place does not accept Negative Covid tests to gain entry to the facility as of our January return to hockey. Only Proof of Full Vaccination is accepted now..
  • CLICK HERE for the new Flow Chart for Asymptomatic tests**
** NOTE: PCR tests are still required for all positive cases that have symptoms.
  • The current Provincial Health Order (December 30) calls for a 5-day isolation for fully vaccinated positive cases**
** NOTE: Players can only return if symptom-free for 48 hours or more once the 5-day isolation is over.
