2014-2015 Team Staff Certification Requirements

2014-06-26

Note there are a few key new requirements.

The SHA approved the 2014-2015 Coaches and Team Official certification requirements at their 2014 AGM on June 14.

Note that there are a few key new requirements:

  1. All Head Coaches in Novice and older must now have the Checking Certification. It used to be that the team could have any of the coaches with Checking and be ok. It must be the Head Coach effective this season. This applies to all teams – male and female. The Checking course is not just body checking any longer but teaches all types of checking.
  2. As per # 1 – Head Coaches of all Female teams (Novice and older) and of our No Body Checking teams (Bantam and Midget) must now have the Checking certification.
  3. The only exception to this requirement will be the Head Coaches of our Rec teams in Atom and Peewee. These Head Coaches will not require Checking certification..
  4. While it came into effect last season, a reminder that all Initiation Program (IP) Coaches – Head or Assistant – must have Intro to Coach. Coaches and Assistant Coaches will get fined by SHA if they are coaching IP and they only have their Coach Level (Coach Stream). If an individual does not want to or have the time to take the Intro to Coaching course, they need to insure that they get listed as a Stick Boy.
