SMHA Coach Goaltender Certification Clinic

NEW FOR 2014-15:

**GOALTENDER COACH CERTIFICATION 

The Goaltending Coach Certification Clinic is new this year and is ran in partnership with Mind the Net Goaltending.

Coaches will register for the clinic which will include 1.5 hours in the classroom, followed by 1.5 hours on-ice. The classroom session reviews the basic tools they will need to utilize goaltenders within a practice, give coaches tools to help teach and correct skills, as well as communication and leadership.

SMHA will offer clinics on Saturday, October 18, 2014. 

Two groups will run in the same day - one group will be for Novice and Atom coaches and one for Peewee to Midget coaches.

The goaltending position is unique and due to the push from the goaltending community, as well as Hockey Canada we are being pro-active in implementing this Goaltender Coach Certification Clinic for the 2014-15 Season. All of the coaches will be certified; however this is not mandatory for the 2014-15 season but will be in the next 2-3 years.

Individuals, who receive their certification this year, will be set for when it is implemented.
